Kathleen Tardif was named Director of Human Resources for DEQ in April 2021. She provides leadership, oversight, and administration of the Department's human resources staff and policies. Kathleen serves as a strategic partner within DEQ leadership striving to achieve DEQ's vision, mission, and goals. She partners with the Office of State Human Resources to ensure the agency's compliance with state and federal policies and laws.
Kathleen has over 23 years of Human Resources experience. For more than half of those years, she has worked for the State of North Carolina with roles at NC State, DHHS and DEQ. Her experience spans all functional areas of Human Resources including classification and compensation, organizational development, recruitment, employee relations, equal opportunity, benefits, diversity and inclusion, training, and performance management.
A self-described 'native of the north', Kathleen relocated to Raleigh in 1990 and made it home for her family.
